Top 10 Hikes in GNP: Hidden Lake Overlook Trail

As we journey deeper into our series on Glacier National Park’s top 10 hikes, we now turn our attention to the captivating Hidden Lake Overlook. Guided by our trusted Outdoor Education Specialists, this hike is one of our most popular guided day hikes during the summer.

A comfortable 2.7 mile round trip hike, the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail is a perfect way to experience hiking in GNP without committing to major distance or elevation gain. It’s one of our favorite family friendly hikes– everyone from the kiddos to the grandparents can enjoy this rewarding adventure.

On this educational hiking tour, we will spend time discussing the incredible geology of the area while traveling along the Going-to-the-Sun road corridor. Along the way we will also take time to learn about the fire ecology of Glacier National Park and why it’s crucial for the survival of numerous species.

Once we arrive at Logan Pass, we will begin our hike of the Hidden Lake Overlook trail. The alpine meadows surrounded by majestic peaks offer the unrivaled scenery to discuss wildlife habitat, Leave No Trace principles, and the importance of land stewardship.

Hidden Lake Overlook is a great trail for beginners, hikers of all ages, and people who like to take their time to notice the little things. We definitely consider it a must-see area of Glacier National Park! If you join us on our guided hike to Hidden Lake Overlook, you’ll have the added benefit of not needing to circle the Logan Pass parking lot for hours to find a parking spot! Focus on enjoying the majestic scenery, learning about what we see, and let our fantastic Outdoor Education Specialists handle the rest.
