Le Grizz Ultra Marathon and Relay

Since its origination in 1982, the Le Grizz 50-mile Ultramarathon has commenced every autumn on the second Saturday of October. From 1982 to 2014, runners made the long trek around Hungry Horse Reservoir in the Spotted Bear Ranger Station. From 2015-2022, the race was owned by the Polebridge Mercantile, where runners and their crew can take advantage of a toasty fire, fresh baked goods and hot coffee before heading out on the North Fork Road. In 2021, the Glacier Institute became the new owner of this historic race.

The course is an undulating gravel road and in 2023, it will start and end at the Glacier Institute's Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, and for the first time will feature a 10k and 5k option to get more runners in on the fun.

LE GRIZZ 2023 IS OCTOBER 14!
