Courses Taught: Montana Master Naturalist

Elena moved to Montana in 1999 after earning a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Missouri and the University of Montana. She has spent the past 25 years working outdoors doing a variety of jobs, from collecting data on birds, plants and stream health for the U.S. Forest Service to working as a Teaching Naturalist for the Montana Natural History Center and the University of Montana Lifelong Learning Center. In 2023 she started a business called “Blue Heron Nature Tours” based out of Missoula. Her favorite tree to hug is the ponderosa pine and her favorite bird to admire is the pygmy nuthatch. She enjoys sharing her curiosity and enthusiasm about nature with all ages and loves teaching the Montana Master Naturalist course in Glacier and the Bitterroot Valley.
