January 25 at 9 a.m.: Join us for an exciting day of birdwatching in the stunning Flathead Valley! This immersive course will take you to diverse locations across the valley, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of winter bird specialists in their natural habitats. As we explore, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for waterfowl, majestic hawks, powerful birds of prey, and many other fascinating species that thrive in the colder months. Additionally, we’ll venture into prime owl habitats, where we’ll quietly search for these elusive nocturnal hunters.

As we explore, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for waterfowl, majestic hawks, powerful birds of prey, and many other fascinating species that thrive in the colder months. Additionally, we’ll venture into prime owl habitats, where we’ll quietly search for these elusive nocturnal hunters. Whether you’re an experienced birder or just beginning, this hands-on adventure promises to deepen your understanding of winter birdlife and offer unforgettable wildlife encounters in one of Montana’s most picturesque regions.

Meeting Place: Columbia Falls Office, 7450 HWY 2 East. 

Itinerary: (subject to change due to trail closures and weather) After a brief introduction in our office in Columbia Falls, we will travel to various locations in the Flathead Valley to view different bird species. The course will end by 2 p.m. and will not be canceled due to weather.

Food:  Please bring a trail lunch, plenty of water, and snacks for the day.

Equipment: You will receive a Field Camp gear list once you register. Most importantly are comfortable hiking shoes, at least 1-2 liter water bottle, backpack, snow gear and warm layers. Binoculars will be provided.

Physical Requirements: Easy. You will exit the vehicle at each spot and walk under one total mile.
