Help the Glacier Institute Use Outdoor Education to Strengthen Connections to the Natural World

Position Title: Lead Educator
Reports to: Director of Education
Supervises: OES I and OES II
Pay Rate: $40,000 annually
Term: Full-time, year-round

The Glacier Institute is seeking candidates to join our leadership team as Lead Educators. The ideal candidates will have experience delivering educational programming, experience supervising staff, be willing to mentor less-experienced educators, and are interested in staying for multiple years to grow with the Institute. Lead Educators are the catalyst for communication, positivity, and growth within their staff.

Position Title: Outdoor Education Specialist I
Reports to: Lead Educator
Pay Rate: $12 / hour
Term: Early Session (March 13th, 2023 - September 30th, 2023)
Late Session (May 1st, 2023 - September 30th, 2023)

Under the direction of the Lead Educators, the Outdoor Education Specialist I is responsible for the delivery of educational programming. Outdoor Education Specialists will lead educational hikes within Glacier National Park, as well as the surrounding Flathead National Forest. The Glacier Institute specializes in place-based, hands-on learning of the natural sciences and cultural history, and we strive to empower students of all ages.

Reports to: Site Supervisor
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate
Term:  Big Creek (March 6th, 2023 - October 8th, 2023)
Field Camp (April 24th, 2023 - October 8th, 2023)
 

The Kitchen Specialist is responsible for all meals at their assigned campus. We are looking for Kitchen Specialists for both our Field Camp (Adult) and Big Creek (Youth) Campuses. This position will handle food ordering and meal preparation at their designated site. The Glacier Institute specializes in place-based, hands-on learning of the natural sciences and cultural history, and Kitchen Specialists are an integral part of ensuring that we achieve our mission.

Reports to: Director of Operations
Supervises: Kitchen Specialist, Camp Host
Pay Rate: $16 / hour. Housing is included
Term: Big Creek (February 27th, 2023 - October 1st, 2023)
Field Camp (April 17th, 2023 - October 1st, 2023)

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Site Supervisor is responsible for all things at their assigned campus. We are looking for Site Supervisors for both our Field Camp (Adult) and Big Creek (Youth) Campuses. This position will be required to live onsite and handle the daily operations of their designated site. The Glacier Institute specializes in place-based, hands-on learning of the natural sciences and cultural history, and site supervisors are an integral part of ensuring that we achieve our mission.

Position Title: Big Creek Outdoor Education Intern
Reports to: Lead Educator
Pay Rate: $200 / month
Term: June 12th, 2023 - August 13th, 2023

Interns are at Big Creek for one main purpose - to grow as educators. Outdoor Education Interns play an essential role in the operation of The Glacier Institute’s Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, our youth campus. Interns gain a season of experience working with school groups and youth camps to empower students of all ages through place and science- based outdoor education.
